The enormous region of land and sea around the North Pole is called The Arctic. Geographically speaking the Arctic region is part of the North American continent.

Greenland Greenland is the largest island of the world. Covered with ice, only the coastal areas can be inhabited. Population: 60.000 Capital: Nuuk

Polar Bears The largest animals in the Arctic Ocean are the polar bears.

Kayaks Slim elegant Eskimo canoe mainly used for hunting seals and walrus. Kayaks are built of wood and covered with sealskin.

The Antarctic The Antarctic is one of the seven continents of the world.

Penguins Penguins live in huge flocks in Antarctic, and are also found in Australia and South Africa.

The Blue Whale The blue whale is the largest known mammal. It can be up to 30 m long and weigh about 100 tons.
